WHAT IS PRP Facial
How Does it Work?
Microneedling is done using an electronic device which vibrates 14 tiny surgical needles that make microscopic holes in your skin. Before this, the skin gets numbed for 30 minutes using a topical numbing cream and gets taken off by using alcohol wipes. At Knott Street Dermatology we use SkinPen which is one of a few FDA approved microneedling pens for all our microneedling procedures.
The specialist extracts the PRP by taking a tiny bit of blood using a needle, and then the blood gets placed in a centrifuge device before it gets applied to the skin during the microneedling process.
Is it Right for You?
Benefits of microneedling with PRP:
- Reduce acne scars
- Reduce hyperpigmentation
- Improve fine lines
- Decrease pore size
- Improve overall complexion
- Improve skin laxity under-eye
How to Prepare for the Treatment:
- Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. Drink at least 60 oz of water daily starting at least two days before the treatment.
- Discontinue blood thinning agents such as vitamin E, vitamin A, ginkgo, garlic, flax, cold liver oil, & fish oil.
- Avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications 7 days prior to procedure. Please consult a physician if you are taking these medications for a medical condition before discontinuing. We want inflammation to occur-as this is one of the mechanism by which PRP works.
