WHAT IS PRP Facial

PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. PRP is a natural product derived from the patient’s own blood to help tissue heal and help grow new cells and hair follicles. It contains a high concentration of platelets and natural growth factors. PRP is paired with microneedling procedure for optimal results and over all skin rejuvenation.

How Does it Work?

Microneedling is done using an electronic device which vibrates 14 tiny surgical needles that make microscopic holes in your skin. Before this, the skin gets numbed for 30 minutes using a topical numbing cream and gets taken off by using alcohol wipes. At Knott Street Dermatology we use SkinPen which is one of a few FDA approved microneedling pens for all our microneedling procedures.

The specialist extracts the PRP by taking a tiny bit of blood using a needle, and then the blood gets placed in a centrifuge device before it gets applied to the skin during the microneedling process.

Is it Right for You?

Looking for a traditional way to reduce your signs of aging? Then you should consider using our microneedling with PRP service. We are a dermatology clinic located in Portland, Oregon, and we know how much a difference the little things can make on your skin. With the help of our aesthetics team, we set up a tailored plan to help you reduce the effects of aging on your skin achieving a youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

Benefits of microneedling with PRP:

  • Reduce hyperpigmentation
  • Improve fine lines
  • Decrease pore size
  • Improve overall complexion
  • Improve skin laxity under-eye

How to Prepare for the Treatment:

  • Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. Drink at least 60 oz of water daily starting at least two days before the treatment.
  • Discontinue blood thinning agents such as vitamin E, vitamin A, ginkgo, garlic, flax, cold liver oil, & fish oil.
  • Avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications 7 days prior to procedure.
