WHAT IS PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)?
PRP is a natural product derived from the patient’s own blood to help tissue heal and help grow new cells and hair follicles. It contains a high concentration of platelets and natural growth factors. PRP can be applied topically, injected into the skin, or combined with other procedures like microneedling to attain the desired outcome.
The treatment is well tolerated and typically requires a series of treatments for optimal results. The best thing about PRP is that there is little to no downtime and minimal side effects.
PRP FOR HAIR LOSS
Hair loss can significantly affect your appearance and confidence. If you have been looking for hair loss treatment that does not require surgery yet produce natural results, platelet-rich plasma injections should be at the top of your list.
PRP treatments can be very effective in treating male and female pattern hair loss or androgenic alopecia. PRP injections treat hair loss from the inside out by stimulating inactive hair follicles to promote hair regrowth while slowing down future hair loss. It’s non-invasive, pain-free, convenient, and requires little to no downtime.
At Knott Street Dermatology & Aesthetics injections are performed by our aesthetic provider and focused on personalized treatment plans.
What Should I Expect During PRP Hair Restoration?
The provider will perform a basic blood draw which will be used to create concentrated plasma for the treatment, topical numbing will be applied to the scalp, and then injections of PRP will be placed into the scalp. You may experience mild swelling and redness afterward.
Results after a treatment of PRP hair restoration are gradual initially seeing results in two months and continuing to see results improve over the next six-twelve months.
