What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable dermal filler that has been on the market since 1999. In 2014, the FDA approved Sculptra Aesthetic for treating facial wrinkles and folds on the face to give a more youthful appearance. Sculptra works by stimulating collagen production, the protein that creates a smooth, radiant skin and youthful look. The main ingredient in Sculptra injections is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic substance that acts as collagen stimulator. Sculptra treatments can be used to treat deep lines, creases, and folds and can be used to restore facial volume loss due to aging or illness.  Sculptra produces gradual results over weeks to months and lasts about 2 years. Sculptra works with your body to help revitalize collagen production and restore skin’s inner structure and volume. Typically, Sculptra is performed with a series of appointments over 4-6 months. Allowing your body to restore support and volume achieving a more youthful skin.
